SOMA MURALS
From the clever SoMa mural at 12th and S. Main (part nature, part art, and part pure delight) to the captivating Cornbread Festival mural on the north wall of ESSE Purse Museum (starring SoMa-fave Cosmo the Cornbread Man) to the lovely lady trying to control her dog on ESSE’s south wall, art is in the air. But don’t forget to look down – art is also underfoot. SoMa is liberally sprinkled with bright and beautiful storm-drain murals.
Be sure to take in all the artistic sights, from the fun and functional bike rack sculptures to the to the benches and seats that double as quirks of art. And don’t miss the original art deco flourish on the Southwest corner or Daisy Bates and Main – a well-preserved surprise that re-emerged when the building it adorns was restored.
