Engaging. Inspirational. Delicious? Yes, Story Time Saturday on March 7 will be all these! In honor of Women’s History Month, our reader will share the heroic tales of an African American woman who defied social expectations to become an engineer in “The Girl with a Mind for Math” by Julia Finley Mosca and of Coretta Scott’s civil rights efforts alongside her husband Martin Luther King Jr. in “Coretta Scott” by Ntozake Shange.
Our reader will be Dr. Dionne Jackson, executive director of AR Kids Read, a local nonprofit working to improve reading proficiency among elementary students.
Kids even get a free scoop of Loblolly ice cream! Plus, Maple Leaf Ragtime, a maple pecan ice cream flavor that MTCC and Loblolly Creamery co-created in honor of Arkansas composer Scott Joplin, will be available for purchase. Loblolly will donate a portion of the proceeds from sales of Maple Leaf Ragtime through March 31 to the museum, so this is a great opportunity to support MTCC!
